Dear Shining Star Families,
It's almost time! We are VERY excited!!
Today is the day you learn who your child’s teacher will be, either via an email from the district or on Parent Portal by 2:00. Parents, I want to thank you again in advance for supporting your child as they navigate whatever feelings come when they hear who their teacher is. Your demeanor has a tremendous impact on how your child responds. Speak positively about them and share your optimism for a great school year.
To help prepare for the first day of school tomorrow, please review the morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up procedures linked below. Please reinforce with your students that we wait in line for the teachers (no playing before school) and make sure your child knows how they will be getting home or to child care at the end of the day.
Refer to the bell schedule HERE for specific dismissal times for your grade level.
A quick note about construction:
Our kindergarten wing is under renovation through the spring, which means parking along Arborwood will be impacted for much of the year. Please allow extra time in the mornings, consider walking if you are nearby, or plan ahead for parking a little farther away. We appreciate your patience as these improvements take shape—our youngest learners will soon have an updated space that’s worth the wait!
New families
Please plan to join us tomorrow morning at 8:30 in the MPR for our Welcome Breakfast and New Family Orientation.
Ice Cream Social
And don’t forget—the Ice Cream Social begins at 3:00 TODAY! We’ll see you soon!
With excitement,
Christine Miller, Principal

Special Introduction to ANOTHER new Shining Star Staff Member!
*Callie Bickmore - Sixth Grade
Hi, my name is Callie Bickmore. I’m originally from Auburn, California, and I moved to Southern California about six years ago to pursue my teaching career and play volleyball at Vanguard University. I come from a family of two educator parents who have deeply influenced my passion for teaching and inspired my career journey.
I began my career as a student teacher in a fifth-grade classroom at Cypress Village Elementary and later worked as a long-term substitute in sixth grade. This past year, I had the opportunity to be a long-term substitute in a fifth-grade class at Woodbury Elementary while also finishing my master’s in education with a focus on curriculum design.
Outside of the classroom, I enjoy painting in my free time, as well as anything active, such as playing beach volleyball and pickleball, and exploring coffee shops around Orange County. I also am a bit of a country girl at heart and enjoy spending time with animals whenever I can!
I’m so excited to now be part of the Canyon View community and can’t wait for a great year ahead!
